A pilot store under a new name

Jeronimo Martins, the owner of the Biedronka chain, has opened a test store in Siewierz, Silesia. The outlet was built on the site of a former classic Biedronka on the local market square and now operates under the name "7Biek" (Biedronka testuje swój nowy sklep. To jedyny taki dyskont w Polsce – Interia Kobieta) (Biedronka szykuje rewolucję? W jednym mieście testuje sklep pod nowym szyldem – Super Express).

The sign no longer carries the Biedronka brand. The store also differs from other discounters in the chain in how its interior is arranged (Początek końca Biedronki w Polsce? Nowa nazwa, nowy szyld i tylko czerwony owad w czarne kropki ze starego logo – Rzeczpospolita). Media reports point to changed aisle layouts and a different promotional assortment.

Company statement

The company says the outlet is a pilot project in which a new concept and store layout are being tested. Biedronka has not said whether similar stores will follow in other locations.

Trademark filing

The "7Biek" name was filed for trademark registration on 5 May 2026. The register published the application on 22 September. The filing suggests the company intends to use the name beyond the single test site, though it has not confirmed this.

Open questions

The reports do not say how long the test will last or what results would lead to a wider rollout. Customers in Siewierz will be the first to see how the format works in practice.
