Scenario and objectives
- Police, prison service, firefighters and counter-terrorism officers rehearsed a crisis at the Bydgoszcz-Fordon prison.
- The scenario combined an explosive payload dropped by drone with barricaded inmates threatening arson.
- The drill aimed to improve coordination, information flow and situational analysis among the services.
The exercise at the Bydgoszcz-Fordon prison focused on improving how agencies organise their response, share information, analyse the situation and cooperate during a crisis (Policjanci uczestniczyli w ćwiczeniach w Zakładzie Karnym w Bydgoszczy-Fordonie – KMP w Bydgoszczy). The drill assumed that an explosive payload had been dropped onto prison grounds by an unmanned aircraft (Alarm w zakładzie karnym i bunt osadzonych. Służby ćwiczyły kryzysowy scenariusz w Bydgoszczy-Fordonie – TVP Bydgoszcz).
Inmates barricade themselves
In the second part of the scenario, a group of inmates barricaded themselves in one of the rooms and threatened to set it on fire, forcing officers to neutralise a threat to the facility's security.
Participating services
Bydgoszcz police officers took part alongside counter-terrorism officers from the Independent Counter-Terrorism Sub-unit of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz, prison service staff and firefighters. Local broadcaster TVP Bydgoszcz described the drill as realistic and published a photo gallery from the event.
