Discovery in Mokotów

While walking through Park Morskie Oko in Mokotów, a mother and her daughter heard rustling and faint whimpering coming from a yellow waste container (Matka z córką usłyszały pisk ze śmietnika. Rescue and checks

The dog was a young, tricolour mongrel, estimated by a municipal guard at about 12 weeks old. The woman took it home under her jacket. The next day she called the city guard, and an Ekopatrol team came to collect it. Officers confirmed the puppy had no microchip and no visible injuries (Usłyszały szelest i popiskiwanie. Investigation

Guards said the animal could not have climbed into the bin on its own and that someone must have put it there intentionally. The case was reported to police. The dog was taken to the Palluch shelter, where it was named Krzysio and is now available for adoption.

Legal consequences

Under Poland's animal protection law, cruelty to an animal carries a penalty of up to three years in prison, and aggravated cruelty can bring a heavier sentence.
