Club confirms search for a striker

Vullnet Basha, sporting director of Wisła Kraków, said the club is actively pursuing a new centre-forward. Speaking on the Meczyki.pl channel, he said the team is working on transfers and is still looking for a striker even though Jérémy Guillemenot has returned from injury (Wisła Kraków pracuje nad niezbędnym transferem. „To prawda” – Transfery.info) („To prawda”. Wisła Kraków potwierdziła – pracuje nad transferem – KanalSportowy.pl) (Tę pozycję chce wzmocnić Wisła. "Działamy w kwestii transferów" – Meczyki.pl).

Derby win and league position

Wisła beat Cracovia 2:1 in the 14th round of the Ekstraklasa, taking their total to 24 points and opening a twelve-point gap over their city rivals. Wisła are currently fifth in the table.

Current attack

Ángel Rodado remains the club's main attacking option this season. In 14 Ekstraklasa appearances he has scored four goals and provided one assist. In the derby he managed only one shot on target before being replaced late in the game by Guillemenot.

Guillemenot's situation

Guillemenot joined Wisła in the previous window as a free agent, bringing experience from Servette, Rapid Wien and the Barcelona reserve side. He has played only five matches for the club because he was sidelined by injury from early September. In the derby he was fouled late on by Mateusz Klich.

What comes next

The club has not named a player or a deal. Basha's comments suggest the search is ongoing and that a new No. 9 is the priority for the winter window.
