Amazon launches Alexa Photo Frame, its first digital picture frame with voice notes

In brief

• Amazon has launched the Alexa Photo Frame, a 10-inch digital frame designed to look like a printed photo.
• The frame supports voice notes on photos and works as a full Alexa speaker.
• It costs $199.99 in black or $229 in birch or walnut, and the lineup also adds the Echo Time and Echo Show 16.

A frame built to look like a print

The device has a 10-inch screen with a semi-matte, anti-glare finish designed to make it look more like a printed photograph than a glowing panel (Everything announced at Amazon’s October 2026 hardware launch – The Verge) (Amazon’s Digital Photo Frame Uses Alexa to Make Sense of Your Family Photos – Gizmodo). A light sensor adjusts the display to the brightness of the room, which helps it blend in next to framed artwork.

Alexa handles the sorting

The frame draws on users' Amazon Photos libraries. Alexa+ picks out images it thinks owners will like and groups related shots together, for example pairing two pictures taken at the same event. Owners can attach voice notes to individual photos, a feature that gives the frame its headline capability (Amazon’s first digital picture frame lets you add voice notes to photos – The Verge).

Speaker and privacy

The frame also works as a full Alexa speaker, so it responds to voice commands. Unlike the Echo Show and other Amazon smart home hubs, it shows only the owner's photos and does not serve advertising, according to The Verge.

Pricing and availability

The Alexa Photo Frame went on sale on the day of the announcement. The black model costs $199.99. A frame finished in birch or walnut costs $229.

Wider Echo lineup

The frame arrived alongside several other devices. Amazon also rolled out the Echo Time, a smart alarm clock, a new Echo Studio model with a built-in camera, a redesigned Echo Dot and the Echo Show 16 (Amazon debuts the Alexa Photo Frame and Echo Time smart clock, plus other upgraded devices – TechCrunch) (Amazon’s new Echo line is here: the 6 biggest updates – The Verge). The Echo Show 16 pairs a 16-inch display with an aluminum frame that is about 40 percent thinner than the previous generation.
