Bosch to cut 750 more jobs at Abstatt development site near Stuttgart by 2029
Bosch plans to eliminate another 750 positions at its Abstatt site in Baden-Württemberg, bringing announced job cuts in its German mobility division since 2024 to 23,650.

In brief
- Bosch plans to cut 750 jobs at its Abstatt site near Stuttgart by the end of 2029.
- The cuts bring announced reductions in Bosch's German mobility division since 2024 to 23,650.
- The company cites weak global car production, falling European demand and pressure from Asian competitors.
Scope of the cuts
Bosch intends to reduce 750 jobs at its Abstatt location, north of Stuttgart, according to reports that the company confirmed to the business daily Handelsblatt (Zulieferer in der Krise: Personalabbau bei Bosch steigt auf mehr als 30.000 Stellen – FAZ.NET) (Niemiecka motoryzacja tnie etaty. Już 103 tys. miejsc pracy do likwidacji – Business Insider Polska). The cuts are to be completed by the end of 2029 and carried out, as far as possible, in a socially acceptable way (Bosch streicht in Abstatt weitere 750 Arbeitsplätze – DER SPIEGEL).
With the Abstatt reduction included, the number of positions announced for removal since 2024 in the German mobility division rises to 23,650. A spokeswoman said that more than 23,000 jobs in Germany are set to disappear over different time frames in that unit. Reports put the overall figure for the division's German workforce at more than 20,000 positions in the coming years (Medienbericht - Autozulieferer Bosch will in Abstatt 750 Stellen abbauen – Deutschlandfunk).
Reasons given
The company points to difficult economic conditions and a deep structural shift in the auto industry. Global vehicle production has stalled, and demand in Europe is falling. At the same time, competition on cost, speed and productivity is growing, particularly from Asian suppliers.
Deutschlandfunk reported that development work for certain systems has increasingly shifted to Bosch's site in China, where demand is higher. The outlet describes the Abstatt cuts as an addition to earlier reductions, and the reports describe the division as the part of Bosch most affected by the job losses in Germany.
What happens next
The timetable runs to the end of 2029, which means the reductions will be phased in over roughly three years. Bosch has not published a breakdown of the 750 posts by function or by quarter in the reports available to us.
