Caregiver benefit in 2027: PLN 3,488 a month and possible alignment of old and new rules

New benefit amount

The new rate has already been published in Monitor Polski, in a notice from the ministry of family, labour and social policy on the caregiver benefit for 2027 (3488 zł miesięcznie od stycznia. Zmieni się wysokość świadczenia - Wiadomości Radio ZET – radiozet.pl). From January 1, the benefit will amount to PLN 3,488 a month, PLN 102 more than the current PLN 3,386. Over a year, that is an additional PLN 1,224 per caregiver. The rate is set to apply until December 31, 2027.

Two benefit systems

Poland still runs two systems of the caregiver benefit: the "old" and the "new". Both pay the same amount, but they differ in their rules on paid work. A caregiver in the new system may have income from work, while in the old system such combining is prohibited (W rządzie na stole zrównanie nowych i starych świadczeń. Changes for caregivers

The government is considering aligning the rules for granting both types of benefit. The ministry of family, labour and social policy is working on an amendment to the act on the support benefit, and the planned changes are to cover caregivers who receive the old caregiver benefit as well (Świadczenie wspierające. Whether the changes could take effect in 2027

According to available information, the government is only analysing solutions, so the date when the new rules could take effect is not settled.
