Excavator on Trailer Damaged Power and Fiber Lines Along 10-Kilometer Route in Lubelskie
Police in Włodawa say a 65-year-old driver hauling an excavator on a trailer damaged power and fiber-optic lines at four points along a roughly 10-kilometer stretch of roads in eastern Poland. He did not stop and was later found in Laski Bruskie.

Damage at four points on the route
Police in Włodawa, according to RMF24, were alerted last Friday to damage at four points along provincial road 819 and national road 82. The affected section runs about ten kilometers from Lubowierz through Kołacze and Stary Brus to Laski Bruskie. The notification indicated the driver had not stopped to check what had happened.
Vehicle traced to Laski Bruskie
Officers located the vehicle in Laski Bruskie, where a 65-year-old man was driving a tractor pulling a trailer with an excavator. RMF24 reports that fragments of broken electrical and fiber-optic cables were visible on the excavator's arm. The paintwork there also showed burn marks, which police associated with electrical discharges from the damaged lines. This link is the police's assessment, not a confirmed finding.
Driver sober, route used before
The man was sober when stopped, police told RMF24. He told officers he had driven the same route with this equipment before. He faces charges for improper transport of a load and for creating a hazard in road traffic.
Open questions
The report does not state the voltage of the damaged power lines, nor how long supply was interrupted or how many customers were affected. It also does not say whether the fiber-optic cables have been restored or whether utilities have estimated repair costs.
