Who received him

According to reports, Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Politburo and the fourth-ranking official in the Chinese leadership, accompanied Kim through the plant. Foreign Minister Wang Yi also took part in the reception, according to the South China Morning Post. Wang Huning later escorted Kim to a recently opened bridge over the Yalu River, the border between the two countries.

A Shanghai-based Korean Peninsula analyst, Niu Xiaoping, told the South China Morning Post that the visit's emphasis had moved away from nuclear issues toward practical economic cooperation between Pyongyang and Beijing. She said the trip aimed to show that political trust between the two countries was extending into trade and industry.
