Konotop Goes Four Days Without Power After Russian Strikes; Water Runs on a Schedule

Four days without power

Konotop, a city in Sumy region, has had no electricity for four consecutive days following Russian attacks in the night of October 24 (Через удари РФ місто на Сумщині вже четверту добу залишається без світла – UNIAN) («Никаких прогнозов нет». В Конотопе после российских ударов четвертые сутки отсутствует свет – NV) (Конотоп четверту добу залишається повністю знеструмленим: "прогнозів по світлу немає" – Українська правда). Mayor Artem Semenikhin said on Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne that most of the city remains without power and that there are no forecasts for when supply will return (Чотири доби поспіль більша частина Конотопа знеструмлена, – мер Семеніхін – Espreso) (Ситуація критична: жителі одного з міст майже чотири доби без світла й газу – TSN). Most of the city is also without gas.

Damage to schools and hospital

The overnight attack hit energy infrastructure, a school and private homes in the Konotop community. Educational institutions were damaged, and the local hospital is running on generators. Local officials have opened so-called "invincibility points" to provide residents with basic support.

Water on a schedule

With pumping stations affected, water is being delivered according to a temporary timetable: from 6:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00. Reserve power sources have been switched on for critical facilities (Третя доба без світла та вода за графіком: як Конотоп виживає після російського удару по інфраструктурі – Suspilne).

Repair crews working around the clock

Repair teams from Sumyoblenergo say they are working around the clock on the damaged energy facilities. The company has said some consumers remain without power and that the pace of restoration depends on whether crews can safely reach damaged sites. Given the scale of the damage, the company has not set a date for full restoration.
