Krakow city council committee fails to open meeting for lack of quorum, again
A Krakow city council audit committee could not start its session on Wednesday because too few members showed up. Only three of its 12 members were present at the scheduled time, and the discussion on an audit of a city company's dealings with Mais Group did not take place.

Session on the Mais Group audit never opened
- The Krakow City Council Audit Committee could not open its Wednesday session because only three of 12 members were present, short of the six needed for quorum.
- The committee was due to discuss the mayor's report on an audit of city company Kraków Nowa Huta Przyszłość's cooperation with Mais Group.
- On the same day, the Environment Protection Committee also failed to meet due to lack of quorum, leaving odour complaints and tree felling plans unaddressed.
The Audit Committee of the Krakow City Council was due to meet on Wednesday to hear the mayor's report on an inspection of how the city-owned company Kraków Nowa Huta Przyszłość worked with Mais Group (Radnym nie chce się pracować. Na kolejnej komisji nie było kworum – LoveKraków.pl). The meeting did not begin because the required quorum was missing. At the scheduled time, only the committee chair, Michał Ciechowski of Law and Justice (PiS), and his party colleague Maciej Michałowski were in the room. Krzysztof Sułowski arrived later, and Bartłomiej Kocurek of Civic Coalition (KO) joined after him, but three members remained short of the six needed out of a 12-member committee.
The agenda had included a presentation by the head of the Centre for Audit and Analytical Control, Małgorzata Korzeń, and the director of the supervision office. Neither presentation was delivered, and the audit findings were not discussed.
Pattern of missed sessions
This is not the first time this month that a Krakow council committee has been unable to proceed. On the same day, the Environment Protection Committee also failed to open (Tak radni Krakowa lekceważą swoją pracę – LoveKraków.pl). Its agenda included a residents' complaint about odours in the Płaszów district and planned tree felling linked to a university project at Fort No. 7 "Za Rzeką" on Rydla Street. Its seven members needed at least four present, and only two were in the room at the start, with a third arriving later.
The two cases show the same problem: committees that cannot reach quorum leave city business unaddressed and push matters into later sessions.
