A magical university on the botanical garden grounds
The Lumina Park light festival has returned to the Botanical Garden of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin. This year's edition is built around Jan Brzechwa's story of Ambroży Kleks's school. The organisers have given the academy a local twist: the castle in the garden is the dean's office of a fictional thirteenth faculty of UMCS (Akademia Pana Kleksa rozświetli Lublin. Lumina Park otwiera się już jutro – Lublin112) (Witajcie w naszej bajce! Akademia Pana Kleksa rozświetliła Ogród Botaniczny UMCS – Dziennik Wschodni).
According to the reports, the park offers around 200 light installations made up of more than a million light points. Visitors pass through 14 thematic zones, and figures from the storybook characters appear along the route.
Preview and opening
The park was shown to invited guests on Thursday, the day before the official opening. It is open to everyone from Friday, 6 November.
Sixth edition
This is the sixth Lumina Park held in Lublin. Each year the event changes its theme. Earlier editions featured a botanical journey, a secret garden, a story about light, and a laboratory linked to the university's patron, Maria Skłodowska-Curie, timed to the institution's anniversary.
What visitors can expect
The festival is positioned as the largest light park in the Lublin region and is a regular part of the autumn and winter calendar in the city. The organisers present the route as a themed story, so visitors move from one scene to the next rather than walking through lights at random.
