President Nawrocki signs five bills, including UK security treaty and ZUS debt write-off

Five laws signed without veto

The Chancellery of the President announced on Wednesday, November 4, that Karol Nawrocki had signed five bills into law. (Prezydent Nawrocki podpisał pięć ustaw. UK security treaty

The most significant of the five is the ratification of the treaty between Poland and the United Kingdom on a partnership in security and defence, signed in London on May 27, 2026. It also introduces a bilateral mutual military assistance clause in the event of armed aggression.

Debt write-off at ZUS

Another law provides for the write-off of receivables pursued by the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) that arose before January 1, 1999. Under the new rules, part of these old debts will be cancelled automatically.

Other laws

The president also approved the ratification of the Council of Europe convention on the co-production of audiovisual works in the form of series, drawn up in Lille on March 26, 2026. He signed an amendment to the copyright act and related laws passed on September 18, 2026.
