Pomerania rail map: Tricity-Warsaw trains in 100 minutes, new lines via Żuławy and along the Baltic
Plans for Pomeranian rail include high-speed links from Tricity via Grudziądz and Toruń, new freight trunk lines serving Gdańsk and Gdynia ports, and new track in the region estimated in the plans at about 160 km. The proposals sit within the national Integrated Rail Network plan.

In brief
- Pomeranian officials and rail companies discussed long-distance plans under the national Integrated Rail Network, including high-speed links from the Tricity via Grudziądz and Toruń to Warsaw, Kraków and Katowice.
- The Y-line is the next route slated for construction at a design speed of up to 350 km/h, and reports put the planned Tricity–Warsaw journey at as little as 100 minutes.
- Freight trunk lines would serve the Gdańsk and Gdynia port terminals, with a Baltic Trunk line to Szczecin, Berlin and Hamburg and a Warmia trunk to Elbląg and Olsztyn.
- The plans estimate about 160 km of new rail lines in the region, including a line through the Żuławy lowlands; no costs or construction dates have been set.
Integrated network and high-speed links
The marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk, met representatives of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe and Port Polska to discuss long-distance rail plans for the region (Nowe magistrale i terminale przeładunkowe. Kolejowe plany dla Pomorza – Urząd Marszałkowski Województwa Pomorskiego). The talks covered the Integrated Rail Network, a long-term blueprint for investments the country will build in the coming decades, and a horizontal timetable for the voivodeship.
Under the plan, high-speed trains would link the Tricity with Grudziądz, Toruń and the new airport, and from there with Warsaw, Kraków and Katowice (Nowe linie kolejowe dla rozwoju Pomorza - Port Polska – portpolska.pl). The Central Rail Trunk line, known as the Y-line, is the next route slated for construction at a design speed of up to 350 km/h. According to TransInfo, the planned link would allow trains to Warsaw to run in as little as 100 minutes (Pięć magistrali kolejowych w kierunku Pomorza. Gdańsk - Warszawa w 100 minut - TransInfo – transinfo.pl). Dziennik Bałtycki reports the same figure for the planned route (Pomorze na kolejowej mapie przyszłości. Pociągi do Warszawy nawet w 100 minut, nowe linie przez Żuławy i wzdłuż Bałtyku | Dziennik Bałtycki – dziennikbaltycki.pl).
New freight trunks and regional lines
Freight trunk lines would serve the Gdańsk and Gdynia port terminals, including a Baltic–Czech route and a Baltic–Black Sea route. Separately, a Baltic Trunk line along the coast would connect to Szczecin and onward to Berlin and Hamburg, while a Warmia trunk would reach Elbląg and Olsztyn.
New sections would also cut journey times to Bydgoszcz, Poznań and Wrocław, and extend to Prague. The plans estimate roughly 160 km of new rail lines in the region. A rail line through the Żuławy lowlands is also part of the proposals.
Where the plans stand
The Integrated Rail Network is described as a continuous process, carried out in part through upgrades to existing lines, rather than a single project with a fixed end date. Officials from PKP PLK and the Central Communication Port presented the assumptions at the Gdańsk meeting, including how a future regional timetable might work. No cost estimates or final construction dates appear in the available reports. The plans remain at the proposal stage.
