In brief
- Kherson prosecutors want a court to return more than 12 hectares of forest land to the state.
- Two plots in Chornobaivka community were reclassified from state forest fund to agricultural land.
- Map data show the plots belong to the forest fund, and no withdrawal decisions were made.
Forest plots reclassified as farmland
The Kherson regional prosecutor's office says two land plots in the Chornobaivka community, covering almost 5 and more than 7 hectares, were moved into the agricultural category and designated for hay-making and livestock grazing (На Херсонщині через суд хочуть повернути державі понад 12 гектарів лісових земель – Suspilne). As a result, ownership of the plots changed from state to municipal, the prosecution said.
Cartographic data contradicts the reclassification
Map data show the plots belong to the state forest fund. Prosecutors say no decisions were made to withdraw these lands from forest management, which is the basis for their demand that the courts return the plots to the state.
Keeping the case in view
The move is part of a wider effort by the prosecution to challenge land transfers that remove forest areas from state control. The court has yet to rule on the request.
