• Buses have been rerouted via the Podilskyi crossing, and energy facilities in several regions were also hit.

Damage to the bridge and nearby vehicles

Russia struck the Northern Bridge across the Dnipro in Kyiv with several ballistic missiles during the night of November 7 (Россия нанесла массированный удар по Украине. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the roadway, the trolleybus contact line and a power line on the bridge were damaged. The blast also damaged five freight vehicles parked nearby. The same crossing had been hit by Russian forces earlier, in October.

Traffic restrictions

Vehicle movement on the bridge is suspended in both directions. Buses that normally cross the bridge have been diverted through the Podilskyi bridge crossing. Routes 21, 73 and 101 now run to Kontraktova Square metro station, and route 29-TR runs from Darnytska Square to the same station. City authorities warned that the changes may also affect metro operation.

Repairs

Road crews are working to remove the damage, and municipal utility services are on site, Klitschko said. No date for reopening the bridge has been announced.

Wider attack on Kyiv

The overnight attack also hit energy infrastructure in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions. Klitschko described an extremely difficult power supply situation in Kyiv, with heating and water systems disrupted. Debris struck a residential building, and a kindergarten and other homes were reported damaged. Five people were injured, including a 14-year-old child. Chernihiv lost power and electric public transport there stopped.

The Air Force said that by 09:00 it had intercepted or suppressed four missiles and 149 drones out of 172 launched, with the main strike aimed at the Kyiv region.
