Residents said they were trapped in their flats after the blast shattered windows, and some dug themselves out from under debris before rescuers arrived.

Damage across the region

The head of the regional military administration, Natalia Zabolotna, said four flats in the building were completely destroyed. Rescue services also reported that a private care home for older people was damaged and that 15 residents were evacuated from it.

The attack was part of a wider assault on the region. Authorities recorded damage to critical and civilian infrastructure, including an industrial facility and private houses. Ukrainian officials said Russian forces had launched 153 drones overnight, with impacts recorded at 15 locations.

Rescue work continues

Firefighters have put out all fires at the site and are still removing debris. More than 60 rescue workers and 14 pieces of equipment were deployed there, and a psychologist from the emergency service was providing support to people on the scene.
