Coalition Faces Poll Pressure as Tusk Pushes for Joint Parliamentary List
Donald Tusk is reportedly keeping an eye on polls as he urges coalition parties to run on a single list in the 2027 parliamentary election. A joint list would give the ruling bloc a far better result than separate campaigns.

In brief
- Donald Tusk is reportedly still pushing coalition parties toward a joint list for the 2027 parliamentary election.
- Polls show KO leading individually, but a joint coalition list would be far stronger, though still short of a majority.
- Public opinion is split on a joint list, and coalition partners disagree on the format.
Tusk keeps pushing for a joint list
Prime Minister Donald Tusk will not drop his push for the ruling coalition's parties to run together in the 2027 parliamentary election, according to Wirtualna Polska. He is reportedly following the latest polls on the question, including a United Surveys survey for WP, and the so-called minimum plan of a shared start remains on the table (Tusk śledzi sondaże, namawia do wspólnej listy. W tle "plan minimum" – Wirtualna Polska).
What the polls show
A United Surveys by IBRiS survey commissioned by WP found that a joint list would strengthen the coalition's chances, though it would not guarantee victory. The poll put the combined support of the coalition parties at 39 percent, which would translate into 228 seats, short of a majority (Wspólna lista koalicji do Sejmu? Wicepremier ocenia szansę – Onet) ([Jedna lista obozu rządzącego w wyborach? Tyle zdobyłaby głosów [SONDAŻ] – Onet](https://wiadomosci.onet.pl/kraj/jest-nowy-sondaz-partyjny-zbadali-ile-glosow-mialaby-wspolna-lista-obozu-wladzy/ls7c4ds)). Civic Coalition (KO) leads individual polling but cannot govern alone, and only Lewica among the other coalition parties clears the threshold on its own. PSL hovers near the barrier, while Polska 2050 sits around 1 percent.
An Ipsos survey for TVP Info and "19.30" gave KO 34 percent, PiS 26 percent, Konfederacja 10 percent, Braun's Confederation of the Polish Crown 8 percent, Nowa Lewica 6 percent and PSL 5 percent. That would give KO 196 seats, PiS 157, Konfederacja 48, the Crown group 36, Nowa Lewica 18 and PSL 5 (Zwrot w najnowszym sondażu partyjnym. Ta partia znalazłaby się w Sejmie – RMF24). Several outlets reported that PSL passing the threshold was the first such result in a while (KO wygrywa, ma dwóch obecnych koalicjantów, a i tak pewnie traci władzę. Jest nowy sondaż – rp.pl).
Public opinion is split
The same Ipsos survey asked whether KO should form a joint list with PSL and Lewica. 32 percent said yes, 37 percent said no and 31 percent were undecided (KO wystartuje w wyborach z PSL i Lewicą na jednej liście? Polacy zabrali głos w sondażu – Wprost – wprost.pl).
Coalition partners disagree on format
Lewica has proposed two separate lists as a possible option. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, from Lewica, backs a joint Senate pact for the coalition, but he is not yet convinced by a joint list for the Sejm. KO's Dariusz Joński has called himself a strong supporter of one shared list, arguing that the D'Hondt method makes running together necessary. Leaders are expected to resume talks on the format in February, and TVP Info reported that they are avoiding firm commitments while watching partners' and the opposition's poll numbers.
Opposition side
On the right, a joint Senate pact is being discussed, with President Karol Nawrocki reportedly acting as its patron. Whether the opposition will also consolidate its lists remains open.
