Polish striker Dawid Kurminowski scores fifth league goal, now joint top scorer in Greece

Goal puts Kalamata ahead before late equaliser

Kurminowski opened the scoring for Kalamata in the 54th minute, giving the home side the lead against Iraklis Thessaloniki (Dawid Kurminowski z piątym golem w lidze greckiej. Znów jest wśród najlepszych strzelców – sport.tvp.pl) (Piąty mecz i piąty gol Dawida Kurminowskiego w barwach Kalamaty – Wyniki na żywo) (Polski napastnik szaleje. Jest liderem strzelców w Grecji – Meczyki.pl). Three minutes later Nanu levelled the match, and the score stayed 1-1 until the final whistle (Polak z piątą bramką w sezonie. Został współliderem klasyfikacji strzelców! – weszlo.com).

Quick start in Greece

The Polish forward joined Kalamata over the summer, leaving Lechia Gdansk in the Polish top flight (Polski napastnik szaleje w Grecji. Nikt w lidze nie ma więcej goli | Gol24 – gol24.pl). He returned from an injury in October and quickly earned a place in the starting lineup. The two league matches and the Greek Cup game before Monday brought him no further goals.

This was his fifth appearance for Kalamata and his fifth goal in the competition. Those numbers put him level at the top of the scoring chart with Jota Silva of Olympiakos, Andrews Tetteh of Panathinaikos and Barnabas Varga of AEK.

Team position

Kalamata remain eighth in the table after nine rounds, with eleven points. Despite the striker's form, the club has struggled to turn his goals into consistent points.

What comes next

The next fixtures for Kalamata and Kurminowski's form in the coming rounds will determine whether he keeps pace with the league's leading scorers (Dawid Kurminowski liderem strzelców ligi greckiej – stolicasportu.pl).
