Kyiv health centre says no infection outbreaks recorded despite epidemic rumours
Kyiv's city centre for disease control and prevention said that no outbreaks of cholera, dysentery, typhoid fever or hepatitis A have been registered in the capital. The reassurance follows rumours linked to power and water supply problems.

In brief
- Kyiv's disease control centre says no cases of cholera, dysentery, typhoid fever or hepatitis A have been recorded as of 1 November 2026.
- The centre describes the risk assessment as routine preventive work, not an epidemic forecast.
- A power failure at a water facility reduced water pressure in four districts and briefly cut supply in some buildings.
No outbreaks registered as of 1 November
As of 1 November 2026, Kyiv has recorded no cases of cholera, dysentery, typhoid fever or hepatitis A, the city centre said (В Минздраве опровергли слухи об угрозе эпидемий в Киеве на фоне отключений света – NV) (Чи загрожує Кииєву епідемія холери та гепатиту через відключення світла: відповідь епідеміологів – TSN). Specialists continue to monitor the epidemic situation and the quality of drinking water.
Centre rejects the epidemic warning
The centre said that assessing possible risks is routine preventive work and should not be read as a forecast of an epidemic. It also called the interpretation of its comments as a sign of an emerging threat incorrect. Stabilisation and emergency power cuts do not, on their own, mean that sanitary conditions or the water supply have worsened, the centre added.
Water pressure cut in four districts
Earlier, a water facility lost power, which led to reduced water pressure in four districts of the city. In some buildings, the water supply was temporarily shut off.
What residents should do
During water interruptions, residents are advised to drink bottled or disinfected water. They should wash hands thoroughly and use safe water to wash vegetables, fruit and dishes. Anyone with symptoms of an intestinal infection should seek medical care.
