Poland's housing construction up in first nine months of 2026, CSO data show
Housing completions in Poland rose by over 3% in the first nine months of 2026 compared with a year earlier. The number of dwellings with construction started and building permits issued also increased, according to Statistics Poland (GUS).

Completions, starts and permits rise
In the first nine months of 2026, more than 3% more dwellings were completed than in the same period of 2025, according to data published by Statistics Poland (GUS) on Tuesday (Polacy i deweloperzy budują na potęgę. Dwucyfrowy skok w wydanych pozwoleniach – bankier.pl) (Budownictwo mieszkaniowe 2026. Są najnowsze dane GUS – pap.pl). The number of flats whose construction began also grew, as did the number of dwellings for which building permits were issued.
Preliminary figures
The agency's figures are preliminary and may be revised as more data are collected. Each indicator is compared against the same nine-month period a year earlier, so the change reflects year-on-year dynamics rather than the full annual total.
Why the trend matters
Permits and starts are a leading signal for future supply. A rise in both suggests that developers and private builders are expanding their pipelines, which may ease pressure on the housing market in the coming quarters, though completion timelines depend on financing and construction costs.
