Truce ends in Kherson
Russia has resumed attacks on Kherson after a several-day local ceasefire, the AFP news agency reported on Monday, citing local authorities (Rusko chystá rozsáhlý vzdušný útok na Ukrajinu, uvedl Zelenskyj – Novinky.cz). The pause had been tied to the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Oleshky, a town in the occupied part of the region.
Head of the city administration Yaroslav Shanko said on Telegram that a Russian drone hit a medical facility in Kherson early Monday. The building was damaged, and no one was hurt. Shanko later said the truce set up for the humanitarian mission in Oleshky had ended and that the city was no longer calm.
Overnight shelling and drone raids
In an earlier update, Shanko reported that over the previous day Kherson and the village of Antonivka had come under Russian artillery fire and drone attacks, damaging family homes and apartment blocks. Two people were injured.
The head of the regional administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said other settlements in the Kherson region were also hit during the same period.
Wider strikes across Ukraine
The renewed fire on Kherson comes as Ukrainian officials describe a broader wave of Russian attacks on the same day. In the village of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian aerial bombs killed at least 18 people and injured five, President Volodymyr Zelensky said (Ruské útoky na dedinu v Záporožskej oblasti si vyžiadali najmenej 18 obetí – Aktuality.sk) (Ruské útoky leteckými pumami zabily v ukrajinské obci 18 lidí, uvedl Zelenskyj – Seznam Zprávy) (Ruské útoky zabily v Záporožské oblasti 18 lidí – Novinky.cz). He said the strikes targeted a school used for humanitarian aid and a shelter where people were hiding.
Zelensky also warned of a large new air attack being prepared, focused on energy and logistics, and said Moscow was counting on world attention being on the US congressional elections on Tuesday.
