Tusk in India: Premier Meets Modi as Poland Seeks to Double Trade by 2030

Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in India on Wednesday evening, starting a visit that will also take him to Vietnam (Premier z wizytą w Azji. In New Delhi he is due to meet Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and lay flowers at the Gandhi Mausoleum before being welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Donald Tusk rusza w daleką i długą podróż. Odwiedzi dwa kraje – RMF24). The two leaders are expected to make statements to the media after their talks, and Tusk will open a Polish-Indian business forum in the capital the same day. On Friday he plans to travel to Bengaluru to meet local officials and take part in a seminar on the ICT and aerospace sectors.

Trade targets

Warsaw and New Delhi want to at least double mutual trade by 2030, and Modi said the goal is realistic (Premier Indii o współpracy z Polską: nasze wspólne cele na pewno osiągną sukces – Business Insider Polska). Trade between the two countries reached 5.681 billion euros in 2025, up from 5.357 billion euros in 2024. Polish exports to India totalled 1.366 billion euros, while imports stood at 4.315 billion euros.

Cooperation areas

Tusk travelled with Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański and a delegation of representatives from nearly 100 Polish companies. Talks are expected to cover defence industry, advanced technologies, space and critical raw materials. Regional and global issues

The Polish side says the talks will also address regional and global questions, including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and India's support for Poland's bid to take part in the work of the G20.

Historical ties

Contacts between the two countries are older than the current diplomatic relationship. Polish presence on the Indian subcontinent dates back to the 15th century, and in 2024, marking 70 years of diplomatic relations, Modi visited Poland.
