What Movember is
November is the month of awareness of men's cancers, mainly prostate and testicular cancer (Movember czas start. Mężczyzno, badaj się regularnie – NFZ – Dolnośląski Oddział Wojewódzki). During Movember, men grow moustaches to draw attention to their health and to remind them to get regular check-ups (Panowie, czas zadbać o zdrowie! Rozpoczyna się "Movember" – tvn.pl). The name combines the English words for moustache and November. The campaign is international (Movember: wąsy dla zdrowia mężczyzn – rak prostaty, rak jądra i profilaktyka – halodoctor.pl).
Why the focus is on men
The gap in life expectancy between men and women in Poland remains clearly visible. Men are less likely to undergo medical check-ups and rarely talk about their problems, including mental health. Prostate cancer is currently the most frequently diagnosed cancer among Polish men, while testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men.

NFZ event on 18 November
The Lower Silesian branch of the National Health Fund (NFZ) invites men and others to an educational event on cancer prevention on 18 November.
