Trump turns on a longtime favourite network
Trump, who has long praised Fox News, began criticising the channel while the midterm results were still coming in. He said he was watching the returns on Fox but could not stand the voice of Jessica Tarlov, a liberal co-host of the network's popular panel show, and that he would switch channels until she left the air. Dispute over gas prices
The trigger, according to reports, was Tarlov's remarks about high petrol prices on the day of the vote. Trump later posted a message that Greg Gutfeld read out on air, repeating his complaint about her comments on fuel costs. Tarlov responded on X that she understood the president's displeasure, adding that reality is complicated and he should learn to deal with it better. Attacks on polls and ratings
Trump then turned to Fox News' election polling, which he said consistently favoured Democrats, and blamed the network for falling ratings. He claimed the channel was spending too much time on "crazy Democrats" who were against him, and that its ratings were falling because it was against him.
Not the first time
This is not the first time Trump has insulted journalists on air. Last November he called a reporter "dumb" after she asked about vetting of Afghan nationals under the Biden administration.
Context of the vote
