JSW Names Tomasz Gawlik Acting CEO, a Former Company Head
Tomasz Gawlik has been entrusted with the duties of president of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (JSW) until a permanent president is appointed. He previously led the coal producer.
Supervisory board names interim chief
The supervisory board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa adopted a resolution on Tuesday, 3 November, entrusting Tomasz Gawlik with performing the duties of the company's president until a new president is appointed (Wiadomo, kto pokieruje teraz JSW. Już kiedyś był jej prezesem – WNP.pl). The move followed the resignation of the previous head of the coal producer, and the board indicated a deputy to take over in the meantime (Prezes zrezygnował, wskazano zastępcę. Ważne zmiany w JSW – RMF24).
Former head returns
The choice is notable because Gawlik has already run JSW, which is why media headlines described him as the company's new-old president (JSW ma nowego-starego prezesa – Puls Biznesu). He also keeps his existing role as deputy president for development, according to the company (Zmiany u państwowego giganta. Oto kto przejmuje władzę – Money.pl).
Key facts
- Decision date: 3 November 2026
- Mandate: interim, until a new president is appointed
- Gawlik's other role: deputy president for development
The interim arrangement leaves open when a permanent president will be chosen. The company has not set a timetable in the reports available on the decision. State-owned JSW is one of Poland's largest coal miners, so leadership changes attract attention from investors and the government.
