New units approved by the regional council
The Łódź Voivodeship council has taken up a resolution granting a new statute to the Samodzielny Szpital Wojewódzki im. Mikołaja Kopernika in Piotrków Trybunalski (Nowe pracownie i wsparcie dla seniorów. Sejmik zmienia statut szpitala w Piotrkowie – Piotrkowski24). According to deputy marshal Piotr Wojtysiak, the document provides for four new organizational units meant to widen the hospital's diagnostic and treatment options.
What the new units will do
The first is a specialist endoscopy laboratory for minimally invasive procedures in urology, surgery and gastroenterology. The second is an interventional radiology unit for minimally invasive treatment of cancer, kidney stones and enlarged prostate. A geriatric subunit is planned to offer comprehensive care for older patients, combining diagnosis, treatment and planning of further rehabilitation. The fourth is a clinic for treating high blood pressure, focused on precise diagnosis, individual therapy and prevention of serious cardiac complications.
Maternity school moves
The same resolution changes the location of the hospital's school for expectant parents. The new address is Rakowska 15 in Piotrków Trybunalski.
Why it matters
The statute change lets the hospital widen its offer for patients from across the region without building a new facility. Regional officials have framed it as part of the voivodeship's push to modernize its hospitals.
