In brief

  • Ukraine's military intelligence says Russia holds up to 700 ballistic missiles and several thousand cruise missiles as of October 2026.
  • Russia's defence industry can produce more than 200 cruise and ballistic missiles a month, up to 110 of them ballistic.
  • Stocks and monthly output are listed for Iskander-M, S-400 interceptors, Oniks, Zircon and Kalibr missiles.

Stockpiles of ballistic missiles

According to Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, Russia's reserves as of October 2026 include up to 700 ballistic missiles and several thousand cruise missiles of various types (Тисячі крилатих і до 700 балістичних: у ГУР назвали запаси ракет у РФ – Suspilne) (Росія накопичила величезний арсенал ракет для ударів по Україні: ГУР розкрило небезпечні масштаби – TSN). Intelligence officials say Russia's defence industry can currently produce more than 200 cruise and ballistic missiles per month, of which up to 110 are ballistic (ГУР: Росіяни накопичили до 700 балістичних та декілька тисяч крилатих ракет – Espreso).

Key systems and monthly output

The agency puts the stock of Iskander-M ballistic missiles at about 115, with Russian manufacturers turning out roughly 65 a month. A modernised version with a range of 550 to 700 kilometres is reportedly in development.

Reserves of RM-48U missiles for the S-400 air defence system are put at up to 400, with about 40 new units produced monthly.

Anti-ship and hypersonic weapons

Intelligence estimates Russia holds more than 600 P-800 Oniks anti-ship missiles, including upgraded variants. Production of Oniks reached more than 55 units in the first seven months of the year, according to the same assessment.

The stock of Zircon hypersonic missiles is said to exceed 120, but output is low: more than 30 were built in the first seven months of 2026.

Intelligence also says Russia has halted production of the Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile because of accuracy problems, shifting capacity to other ballistic systems.

Kalibr cruise missiles

The Kalibr stockpile is estimated at more than 450 missiles, with monthly production of about 29. Intelligence says a significant share of new Kalibrs is being sent to a strategic reserve, including for arming Russian fleets.

What the figures show

The figures suggest Russia is able to sustain long-range strike campaigns even under sanctions, as its production lines continue to feed existing stockpiles. Ukraine's intelligence has not published an independent verification of the numbers, and they come from a single official source.
