Truck overturns at a central Strzelno junction

A truck transporting chemical substances overturned on a roundabout in the centre of Strzelno, at the crossing of national roads DK15 and DK25 (Kolizja ciężarówki z chemikaliami w Strzelnie. Ewakuują mieszkańców, szkoły odwołują zajęcia – radiopik.pl). Reports describe the vehicle as a trailer that tipped over, which triggered an alarm for emergency services in the town (Groźne zdarzenie w centrum Strzelna. Ewakuacja mieszkańców, na miejscu grupa chemiczna – Rzeczpospolita) (Strzelno: przewróciła się przyczepa ciężarówki z substancjami chemicznymi. Zamknięte drogi i ewakuacja mieszkańców – TVP Bydgoszcz).

No leak reported, but residents moved out

Fire crews stated that no leak of the substances had occurred. Even so, residents of buildings near the crash site were evacuated, and one tenement house was among those cleared (W centrum miasta przewróciła się ciężarówka z chemikaliami. Ewakuowano mieszkańców kamienicy, zamknięto drogę – TVN24). Local media also report that a chemical rescue team was deployed to the scene (Wypadek ciężarówki z chemikaliami. Ewakuacja ludzi w centrum Strzelna – Onet).

Schools suspended, roads closed

The Strzelno town hall announced in its morning statement that classes were suspended at the Michelson and Dałkowski schools and at local kindergartens (Kolizja ciężarówki z chemikaliami w Strzelnie. Zamknięto szkoły, występują utrudnienia drogowe – rmf24.pl). Traffic is disrupted, the road has been closed, and detours have been set up (Kolizja ciężarówki z chemikaliami w Strzelnie. Zamknięto szkoły, występują utrudnienia drogowe – RMF24). The town authorities asked residents not to gather in the centre or near the roundabouts and to keep roads clear for rescue vehicles.

What happens next

The time when the road will reopen and when evacuated residents can return home has not been announced. Residents seeking updates can contact the Strzelno town hall or the State Fire Service (emergency number 112).
