Context before the match

The fixture came three days after both sides played in the STS Puchar Polski. Stal progressed to the next round, while Puszcza were knocked out by Wisła Płock. Stal's coach Marek Zub had to weigh his attacking options, with Aleksander Buksa having scored mostly after coming off the bench since returning from injury.

Puszcza's away record was among the weakest in the division, and Stal's home form had also been poor, so the meeting offered either side a chance to improve its position. The match was scheduled for broadcast on sport.tvp.pl, with kick-off at 20:30 (Stal Rzeszów - Puszcza Niepołomice transmisja na żywo. Gdzie oglądać i o której mecz? What comes next

Stal's next league fixture and the table position of both clubs after the round were not confirmed in the reports, so the outlook for the coming weeks remains open.
