Brussels talks announced, then placed in doubt
Zelensky said in an interview with TSN, published on October 25, that he planned to meet NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, EU representatives and the Americans in Brussels on October 27-28. He said the agenda would cover security, guarantees for Ukraine and initiatives to end the war launched by Russia. He linked the plan to recent contacts. Last week in Oslo, US envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with the presidents of Finland and the prime minister of Norway. Security advisers from Britain, France and Italy, along with a senior aide to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, also took part in wider discussions. Witkoff has since briefed Kyiv on his talks with Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.
On October 23 Zelensky also spoke with Trump's special envoys and said a trilateral meeting at the level of negotiating teams was planned for the first half of November. Kyiv and Brussels do not confirm
Zelensky's aide Dmytro Lytvyn declined to confirm the Brussels trip, saying the US side had changed its plans.
The European Commission said it had no additional information on a possible visit by the Ukrainian president. It said it continues to take part in negotiations with allies and partners aimed at a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. A NATO official told European Pravda it would comment if it received information on the matter.
EU officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Radio Liberty that no such meetings were in European leaders' schedules as of the latest reports, though they did not rule out changes. (Зеленського очікують у Брюсселі: про що та з ким говоритиме президент – TSN)
