New head of Polsat's news and current affairs division
Marcin Wójcicki has taken over as director of the information and current affairs division at Telewizja Polsat, succeeding Piotr Witwicki. Wójcicki had served as deputy director of the division for eight years and has been with Polsat for almost two decades (Nagłe zmiany w Polsacie. W tle spadki wyników – Jastrząb Post). The change was announced in late October 2026 (Piotr Witwicki przejdzie do Kanału Zero? Dziennikarz nie zaprzeczył – Do Rzeczy).
Witwicki's new role
Witwicki has stepped away from running the division but remains editor-in-chief of Interia, according to reports. He is also expected to oversee Polsatnews.pl and the YouTube channels of both sites (Piotr Witwicki zmienia rolę w Polsacie. Będzie rozwijał portale – satkurier.pl). The broadcaster says the goal is to build up its online presence and development of the Grupa Polsat Plus internet services.
Changes in the newsrooms
Krzysztof Kaszyński has been named deputy director of the division and head of Wydarzenia 24. Ewa Jarosławska is responsible for the editorial team of the flagship "Wydarzenia" news programme, while Dawid Puchniarz was put in charge of the newsroom.
Reasons given
Polsat cites growing competition in the news media market and the approaching election year as reasons for the restructuring. The company also wants to strengthen its online content and improve ratings for its news programmes on television.
Speculation about Witwicki's next move
Unofficial information suggests Witwicki is considering leaving the group, and Krzysztof Stanowski's Kanał Zero has been mentioned as a possible destination. Neither side has confirmed this.
